Back at the Hotel

Tommy waited for his dad in the lobby of the hotel. Right on time his
dad pulled up the rental car. Tommy climbed in the car and they
started on their way to grandma's house for dinner. On the way,
Tommy told his dad all about the halibut, the fishing boat and all the
seabirds he had seen. He told dad about his favorite sight of the day. 
It was the pelican who made the Kamikaze dive on the school of
small fish. He told his dad about Ace. He told his dad how Ace had
invited them to go sailing some day. Dad agreed that he would like to
meet Ace and that sailing sounded like it would be fun.

Tommy eventually ran out of things to say with the exception of one
last thought. Tommy told his dad, "you know dad, that book about
seagulls that grandma gave me was really stupid." Dad commented,
"you learned about seagulls from a book grandma gave you? I was
wondering where your interest in seagulls came from. I thought it was
something you heard in school. Tommy do me a favor and don't tell
grandma the book about seagulls was stupid. When you really think
about it you might not have wanted to go to the harbor if she had not
given you the seagull book." Tommy replied, "your right dad.
However, somebody should write a book about pelicans."
