A day at the dock

Tommy and Ace set foot for the end of the dock. The dock was about
a half mile long and ended close to the breakwall. There was a good
view of the birds at the end of the dock. The pelicans live on the
breakwall. The seagulls hang around at the end of the dock because
their are a lot of tourists there. The seagulls get a free lunch from the
tourists who feed them. The journey would be quite an adventure for
the boy from Tucson. Many surprises lay ahead.

About halfway there Ace and Tommy came upon a fisherman. The
fisherman's fishing pole was bent way over and another fisherman
was lowering a round net on a rope from the dock down toward the
water. "What did you catch Joe?" asked Ace. "I have not seen it yet
Ace. However, it feels like a big halibut. It could be thirty pounds or
bigger." gasped Joe as he caught his breath. "Can we stay and
watch?" asked Tommy. I wouldn't leave now for all the money in the
world. Joe has been fishing from this spot on the dock for years and
the biggest halibut he's caught was only five pounds," said Ace.

The pole kept bending over and the tip of the pole bounced every
time the fish swam away. "I see color," said the man with the net.
"What is it?" yelled Joe. "It's a halibut, it's a big halibut. He's in the
net," shouted the man with the net. He started pulling the rope that
would bring up the net with the halibut.

The fisherman got the halibut up to the dock. They were very happy
and talking about their catch. It was really big. One of the men had
a little scale that weighed fish. It was 31 pounds. The biggest halibut
Joe had ever caught.
